Don’t expect an early end to the session

- in Legislative Watch

The state Senate just approved a resolution that extends the “crossover deadline” (the date by which bills must pass out of the house in which they originate) from May 12 to June 9. Historically, crossover (a tool used to limit the flood of bills in the legislature) is normally set for late April or the beginning of May.

By moving it to June 9, lawmakers would seem to be sending a message that early adjournment of the 2011 session is increasingly unlikely.
