Another crazy day on Jones Street

- in Legislative Watch

The new conservative majorities at the General Assembly continue to rush momentous bills through at a breakneck pace. Some analysts have commented that the bills are coming so fast that it’s almost as if the lawmakers want to get things done before anyone really pays much attention to what they’re up to.

This morning, members of Senate Appropriations Committee rushed through the bill to remove the requirement of community college participation in federal student loan programs in less than 10 minutes.

Right now, the House Education Committee is considering yet another version of the charter schools deregulation bill at the same moment that the House Health and Human Services Committee is considering the bill to set up the Blue Cross-run health care exchange.

Stay tuned.
